Australorps breed Thread

One Blue looking Australorp Chick is out. One egg with splash on it has a pip along with 3 others. I should have more chick hatched by morning!

Ron,
Good to hear. Mine are only about a week old today. I will take pics next week when they are two weeks. It looks like I have 2-splash, 3- blues and 1 drk blue or black, still not sure yet.

Aveca,
What did you end up with from Chet?

Great to see that the Australorp breed overall is gaining in popularity. Welcome to all the newer BA members. Enjoy seeing your pics very much.

Mine should arrive in 22 days. This time my DH talked the gal in charge of chick orders to keep the BA order coming no matter what hopefully. Plus he paid for mine so as to seal the deal.

(as much as that is possible?) It is beyond belief she cancelled the last BA order the week before they were scheduled to arrive. She admitted she sold all the BA's within 15 minutes after the store opened. It wasn't clear if she meant last year or what???

After all we have been after her for 3 going on 4 months now to get mine this year. Unbelievable!

Keep those pics coming everyone. As soon as I get my BA chicks I certainly will put up pics ASAP.

All the best to all of you. ~Dee~

G'day,
It's great to see the excitement of all these new chicks hitting the ground. I hope they are all potential Champions for you all.

I noticed a picture in a site by Chester & Berta and I quite liked his cockerel, "Junior".
Even though they are quite different to the ones here, Junior is a fowl one could work with. http://huppfarm.wetpaint.com/

Regards,

Ross

Thank You Ross!

One of our breeding cocks. He was raised off premises as backup on only 9% protein( grandfathers place) but he turned out much nicer after he molted. So he's not in the best condition but is still nice.

G'day,

This big fellow above is getting to a reasonable shape. His balance is almost there. I like his cleaner head gear to most that I have seen. I would certainly use him with my "Langshan experiment" if I were in the USA.

Ross

Yay! I got my first Black Australorps!!!!!
Both are a month old.

Here is "Ninja" (above picture)

This is "Elphaba"

If you can guess on their sexes, it would be appreciated. We picked the ones with the least prominent combs and are hoping for pullets.
