Australorps breed Thread

i know..he offered a word of advise like they are not waddles, they are wattles...and that was just a freindly correction but the person didnt take it that way..he said he would do best to just stay off the www. its too agrivating.. i feel bad but hes still on the book of face...

I'm throwing my 2 cents in here. It is always good to not correct people in public. Telling someone how to spell or correcting their grammar on BackYard Chickens is totally public. Embarrassing someone does this to them:

Had it done to me before. Didn't like it. But I do like Australorps and Barnevelders and Wyandotte bantams. And plain ole yard chickens.

I think it was something / someone else ...I thought you two were okay ..as the problem was on the Heritage thread...did you post on that ?
It IS hard to tell tone ...most everyone on BYC is very nice ...but once in a while you run into a hard case ...
We are all trying to learn ..more ...Maybe he could do a blog ?

yes I was on that one to Gramma. Thought mine was heritage ones but folks are telling me they aren't.

It was not here. There was a worse mis understanding that involved a negative cultural reference on a different thread. It happened here https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/732985/csu-chicken-state-university-large-fowl-sop/1690, but the thread starter is a Moderator and he cleans up the thread after each unit so the posts are gone now.

It looks like Ross still goes to the Campine thread. He was there recently and was on BYC two days ago. I hope he comes back here.

Me to Ron on hoping he comes back!

Yes it really would be better to correct folks in private. I am new to anything related to chickens and I don't know very much about them at all until this spring and summer. You just don't know what you don't know BUT I am learning~

and that's what I am on here for trying to learn.

Well at least I feel a little better that it wasn't my fault he left that thread but am glad he is at least hanging around the others.

yes I am giving them layer.

I've started on their 2nd bag now.

I usually keep mine on starter , gamebird, or flock raiser until they actually start to lay, or they are red enough and starting to poke around in the box. If you start layer too early, they can have calcium build up that can cause problems........ They don't need the higher calcium until they start to make egg shells. There are a lot of folks that think layer is to encourage laying. It isn't. It is to supplement the calcium mostly...........stan

Stan,
Great to hear from you, where ya been? I thought you were moving to NC. Your babies are all grown now and looking fantastic.
Kurt

Been very busy Kurt! We are leaving for South Carolina Friday, be back on Monday, then have 2 more trips scheduled!. It has been like that for a couple of months. I'm so glad I decided to retire and slow down. WSe are really looking forward to setteling down in the next couple of weeks. Then I can start building new pens!!..........stan

Stan, I can't wait till retirement! Only like 35 years(or more) to go! Then I could spend more time with the birds, and yes building cages. I was only able to raise 100 or so Australorps and am currently culled down to thirty. Having more pens would be nice to give birds more time before culling begins. Glad to hear things are going well for you!
