I really enjoyed you sharing about your admiration plus hesitation to crack them open to eat because I felt the same way. Even now when I bring them in the house I admire them by showing them off to my DH if he is handy. They are like little miracles to me everyday. ~Dee~

Hi, Im new to this thread. I have two pullets who are now about 21 weeks. I just love the touch of their feathers. Too bad the only time I can get close to them is when they are on the roost. Any other time they are standoffish. Not aggressive, just not wanting to be petted. I'm anxiously awaiting for them to lay. I'm kinda concerned that one is just too fat. She is just HUGE and I thought maybe she was a Jersey Giant but after learning about that breed now know I just have a giant pullet. She is lazy and doesnt like to scratch for food like her sister. She will fly around the yard and has a cooky personality that I like when I watch her from outside the run. I make my own feed so I think Ill keep out some of the fatter grains to get her weight down.

Here is a pic of her when she was thinner.

I've gotten 6 eggs out of my 4 girls this week, they are all first time layers this week. Cute and tiny eggs, I think I will admire them for a day or so before eating them. I've been waiting what feels like forever for them to start!

LOL you sound like me. I left them on the cabinet so I could look at them for I know 3 days before I put them in the fridge. lol CONGRATS!!! I am getting 7-8 a day now but not all are laying yet. Some of those are RIR's to. I got a HUGE one today and it was almost as wide as my hand!

Oh sees pretty! I love these little pullets. They're just so shy sometimes.
