Australorps breed Thread

It seems Hatchery birds are definitely the most popular! I would hate to be where you are and try to get quality birds! I am in the midwest and had to do a lot of searching and then some driving to get my Gilbert birds. I hatched one Tigercreek boy. I have 6 pretty nice BA boys. I am gonna part with 3 of them. I am also gonna part with 4 of my pullets. If anyone is interested let me know.

Dan
i have had terrible luck trying to get australorps but i wont give up. my other option is to get my pommy orpingtons to learn to speak with an aussie accent

Then just get them to waddle through some white paint :D

If only I could get you some of our roo's Oz, we have a few spare! Our last hatch we hatched three 'lorp's, All of them roo's!

i was going to just have them wear flip flops to hide the soles of their feet.

no doubt about it ben, you are an expert on hatching roos

A pic of one of this years Australorp pullets. Very typical of our production stock, with hens frequently going over 7.5 to 8 pounds. I know..too large for the SOP but I will continue to emphasize production in both The Australorps and Turkens, despite the fact that we are planning to establish a strain of Turken/Naked Neck SOP birds.

Also, I know full well that most of my flock in no where near SOP...I care for them as if they were and keep ALL of them in 'SHOW BLOOM' at all times. It's not easy but it does help keep the egg production up, by feeding them unorthodox yet very nutritious diets.

No need to apologise!

they are great looking. Do you Process Cockerels? If so What age is best for you.

Thanks ron..I caponize a few cockerels each year for personal use and that gives me a pretty wide lattitude for processing. The others are 'processed' for pther uses.
