Australorps breed Thread

If you're saying they are not SOP types, you are absolutely correct.

Ah...but I remember you inquiring about my Turkens, so I guess you might have seen something you liked..lol
You kidding me? I said if you have solid red color Naked Necks you said "depends" you don't breed for certain color naked necks.. So you wasted my time pretty much.

As I see it, you wasted your own time ...and mine. So, let's not waste amy more of each other's time..You breed for your show birds and I'll continue to breed production birds.

Oh...yes I do have solid reds but not because I tried to get that color...they just appeared in the bator! lolol

Perhaps we wont have the same thing in common but I share this Greek song to you in peace

Great song! My Greek is limited to minor greetings and knowing how to ask a girl if she wants to go ...for date but I love the culture and the people. I spent quite some time on Cyprus a few years ago and honestly...if Uncle Sam would have allowed..I might still have been there.

We likely have more in common that you even know and I do not feel comfortable having even the slightest strain in our relationship. We both love two of the same breeds but we simply breed from different points of view.

My Turkens and Australorps are very large...Some might even take the honors in a show against some of the SOP birds because, according to what a couple judges have said on this forum...bigger always seems to win. lolol

So, lets be friends for the sake of the breeds we love and in the interest of free exchange of ideas!!

We have one BA pullet of laying age, and a swag of 9 week old chicks...mostly roo's.

We hatched a bunch in the hope for a Blue pullet, and landed two blue roo's known to us as The Blues Brothers. One is light and the other is dark.
Light Blue

Blue Brothers together

Dark Blue

As chicks

Our pullet 'Luna's' eggs have a purple bloom to them. The ones from the last hatch all were from cream coloured eggs

The boss diva herself. Noisiest girl in the flock!

We are going to keep one of the Blues Brothers and put him over Luna to try for that elusive blue pullet.

Sadly I have given up my pursuit of Australorp eggs for my Christmas hatch. Come spring I will be hassling here to buy good quality eggs

If I cant get some decent eggs by April I am going to build a magabator in my apartment, get 1000 hatchery eggs, hatch them and give them away as show quality Australorp birds

It seems Hatchery birds are definitely the most popular! I would hate to be where you are and try to get quality birds! I am in the midwest and had to do a lot of searching and then some driving to get my Gilbert birds. I hatched one Tigercreek boy. I have 6 pretty nice BA boys. I am gonna part with 3 of them. I am also gonna part with 4 of my pullets. If anyone is interested let me know.
