Australorps breed Thread

Hi Ben,
nice footy analogy!

Just in case our American friends misinterpret, Ben's referring to Aussie Rules football. There's intense rivalry between our different states, so I was having a very gentle dig. Ben means that it was a fair comment and that he's not offended. Sorry to state the bloody obvious, but I've encountered a little strife on here occasionally when my humor hasn't been appreciated. I have found that you can have a little fun with Dan though!!!!
Must make a more useful contribution. Something else from our premier breeder. George suggests that we introduce every 3-4 years, a male that has a lighter colored beak. Why? I'll let him speak. " If you continually breed from birds with black beaks, black eyes in Australorps then the top color will be affected, along with sole colors. White on the underside of feet will appear bruised in color and in some cases comb and face, rather than fine in texture and red, will be spotted with black and coarse." Well, bugger me! I never knew that! Hope it's not too technical, but this is a serious thread - well, most of the time anyway!
Cheers Geoff

thanks groche for the compliment, i think.

Having Australors and going to have Auatralorps is good and you are very helpful with them.

since we are talking rugby and we are on a Australorp thread, I think that we should all be fans of the New Zealand "All Black" Rugby team, since our chooks are "all black".

I love her so much. (my most friendly & best egg layer) For sure this is one of my fav pics of her showing off her amazing green sheen.
BTW, you all probably know it, but I find it best to take pics of black animals (2 black pomeranian dogs own me too.) in the shade rather than the glaring sun.

It was Aussie Rules football rather than rugby referred to, but the thought of any Aussie rugby supporter rooting for the NZ All Blacks is inconceivable!!!!!!
Another of George's gems that I've not come across before. " If you wish to enhance your stocks' leg and eye color prevent any form of coccidiossis occurring." Anyone with any idea why he believes this? I've little cocci experience.so can't help. George's explanation to follow.
It was definitely a compliment, Cuba. What happened to your BA's?
Cheers Geoff
