While we are on the subject of pests like worms and mites I made an interesting observation the last couple of days. Chickens may have something going on because they discovered the sand around my septic system and dug in and had a nice sand bath for themselves. Guessing by their happy behavior it appeared to be giving them more than just a cool fun relaxing playful time but might have been helping them to rid themselves of some pests perhaps?
Good to know that they like sand and fine dusty silty dirt.
AWWWW, beautiful babies
It depends on how aggressive they are being. It is normal for a pecking order to be established.I got 6 chickens yesterday (all laying hens), and 2 of them are black australorps. Reading about them has me excited! There are also 2 RIR's, who seem to be aggressive, should I separate the sweet ones out so they don't get picked on, or just let them work things out? Nobody's been hurt so far, like I said mostly just picking.
Aussie Are ! Love their Green Sheen !I love mine! They are so beautiful!
