Australorps breed Thread

I had a list of wing feather sex able breeds but the link does not work. I will check on some University sites today and find a new list.

I did find a note that a hatchery spent three years in the 50 coming up with a line of meat birds that were feather sex able.

It's interesting to be able to tell early, but truth be told, it doesn't matter much. I will grow them out, and keep a record of their traits. Yesterday I made DH, and my doctor very angry at me. Later on, DH was looking at the chicks, and he was feeling all warm, and fuzzy. He asked me what I would do if they turned out to be roosters. I replied that if they were not prize winning quality, they would taste good. DH almost fainted. Moving into the dog house now.......

A case of apples verses oranges
There is a bulk discount / cargo rate for Olive oil sent on a ship .
The books would probably be sent air mail which is more expensive .
I ship to Australia regularly it is quite expensive .

Has anyone ever experienced lacing in poor quality BAs? My three week old ( hatchery stock, but they're for laying only ) cockeral is showing signs of lacing on the wings coming in. Of course, he may grow out of it. But it'd be interesting to see.

It is common for some BAs to have some white in their growing out periods ...is that what you mean by lacing ?
most lose it in the last molt

No. Its not the general white leakage. I've never seen it before in my old lines, its a black on black lace. Like you'd see in a young laced bird only with a lack of color.. I'll see if I can get some pictures of it tomorrow. It's really strange to me. I'm quite familiar with the breed, bred them in the past. Just curious if anyone's seen anything like it in young birds.
