One more, with legs

We have four Australorps, and we think one is a rooster. They're 3 weeks old and the suspect chick has a lot thicker legs and very little tail development. Would love to hear your opinions. Hopefully the pics are useful.

Look for pink wattles after 6 weeks old.

Are you sure it is not mixed with something?

It was sent as a Meyer Hatchery Australorp, but I'm not sure if there are ever mixes at the big hatcheries.

It has a lot of white for a full aussie ..hatcheries sometimes mix in other breeds for traits they want stronger ...

The chance of hatchery lorps going broody is low--likely 10% or so. You can try to encourage them by putting a bunch of golf balls into the nest box.

When would be a good time of the year to try to leave the golf balls in the nest?

We got FIVE eggs yesterday! I am so proud of my little, baby mama birds. They all started laying at once!

MrB texted and said we got three more this morning. I am VERY impressed with these Australorps.
