I see most in Merritt island and cape canaveral. They r such pests. They do structural damage to homes big time and they have been known to attack people. I was told they r actually protected and that's why no one tries to get rid of them. Tourists like them and when I first moved here I found that fascinating but after hearing too many friends w bad esperiences I personally wouldn't feel ok trying to raise them here. But I won't lie the makes r gorgeous. Just not worth having my roof ruined and caved in for.

There are no laws protecting invasive, exotic species. Hunt away! They are terrible to local wildlife, both plant and animal.

Seatrout, you need to check local ordinances. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said it receives dozens of calls from angry residents about peacocks across the state. But the state considers them domestic birds, like chickens, and not wild birds. So officials don't deal with them.They are NOT considered to be an invasive exotic species in Florida. It's totally illegal to kill, and/or harass them in most counties. One can be charged with animal cruelty, and/or animal abuse if caught, and whatever penalties, fines, jail time, etc., for animal abuse/cruelty are usually applied. Yes, there are a few counties that do permit residents to shoot them, if they become a nuisance, but again it's only a few counties that allow it. In most counties when peacocks become a problem, licensed trappers must be hired to trap, and relocate them. Again, check your local ordinances.

Are we all having fun yet? I am under 4 feet of snow and tired of plowing and shoveling. I have yet to set up my breeding pens, but the good news is that my waiting list is growing already. Y'all please be patient who have contacted me already for BBS Australorp chicks and eggs. I am literally eyeballing and talking to them while standing in a snow drift! At the present they are not happy with all this white stuff.

Well that wasn't how I planned to start my day lol. I've been getting a heap of dirty eggs lately and as the nest is clean that really only left chicken butts. Sure enough Pepper who I thought just had a little bit of a dirty butt turned out to have big lumps of poop stuck to her but hidden under all those fluffy feathers. So she got a bit of a trim and is looking much better. Must have been uncomfortable too.

All the others were fine, is dirty butts a problem with australorps because of their fluffy behinds or was she just a slow learner when it came to pooping?

From what I've read it's generally caused by stress.
