Would someone be interested in critiquing my bird please? Like I said before, Im a serama expert on type, but know nothing about these birds, so you won't hurt my feelings. Ill try to get some pics of the hens later too. Id really like someone to break it all down for me, and add some pics of some super typey birds with qualities I DO want, or even birds that show a quality I don't want. Looks like I might be focusing on breeding some more of these until next year. Some critter got in and killed all but 8 of my adult serama in my chicken tractors last night. (Well, something bit into the heads of my phesants and a pair and the other 20 birds just disappeared with hardly a trace!) Luckily I have 4 pens full of started chicks, but that gives me a bit of time to learn about Australorps. Thanks!

you cant go wrong with hupp farms he has great birds and great personality to go with it...by the way chet when we went to the show the tip you gave me on the vet rx was fantastic..not only did the birds smell great but they just glowed ...the cockeral even won the special award for best orpington out of all at the show..every little bit matters when your at the APA shows..thanks for all the little tips..you should write a book..a lot of people have a lot of aussie questions...
I am planning my next set of chickens..... How would you compare RIR to Australorps? I saw on the breed list that RIR are an agressive breed and that Australorps are a friendly breed. What are your opinions? How are A for laying eggs? Thank you for any answers ! Theresa

The BA's get a long with both the Golden Comets and the RIR's though, which is what the chicken sites say about them.
I would not say that the RIR's are particularly aggressive, but they are not the best back yard city chicken because of the noise. Luckily I live in a city that allows chickens so I don't have to hide them
The Black does look good with the reddish brown color of the RIR's though.
