What is that? The chicken molt dance?! Absolutely love that shot.
I just want to warn people do not order Chickens through the mail. I ordered three and they where dead upon arrival. I wanted to replace my Australorp that died from egg impaction. But I will wait until next Spring to get a Australorp. Miss my black fuzzy butt chicken, she was so friendly. Ps- Never order Chicks through the mail.
Chet,
Good to see you back. The molt is kicking my butt even with the different ages of my BA's. Out of 13 hens I am lucky to get 4 eggs. My Urch hens are in full blown molt. DUNDEE the roo looks terrible and the hens are tearing out feathers as soon as they come in. In my opinion chickens are dinosaurs and blood thirsty when they want to be. I tried putting Dundees son "COAL" 22 weeks old in with my wives EE and AMeraucanas and they beat the crap out of him. My SLW breeders have not laid an egg in over a month and their molt looks like it is finally over.
Ron, That chicken dance is the FUNKY CHICKEN from the 60's!!!! LMAO
Hi Walt,
I'm sorry we got off on the wrong foot, as I agree with all that you say on here. The Australian Standard came after both the British and American. We were too busy squabbling among the various States as to what it should be and it ended up largely based on the British one. The 4-6 points in our Standard apparently stem from these squabbles too, with northern States tending to favor 4 points, while down south here our strains tend to have 5. Guru, Ray Conner, writes re combs, " I know it's the icing on the cake but as long as it's neat and well set on the head no more is needed".
Cheers Geoff from Aus
