Australorps

Hello. Can everyone tell me facts about australorps? Anything you want. Including but not limited to colours, genetics, breed information. Just anything! I really love australorps so want to know anything about them. I know a bit about them but I’m happy with anything, even if I already know it. I spend so much time looking up stuff about them but some sites are a bit conflicting so I thought I’d just ask you experts. I also have a blue and a black pullets and hoping to find myself a show quality roo sometime soon so that’s pretty much why I want to know everything.

I have 1 Australorp. Her name is Rachael. She's has a mild temperament and lays pretty brown eggs. She's been a pleasure to have in my layer flock. She'll be 7 years old in the spring.

You probably no this already but they ( in my experience ) are the most friendly chickens and lay big dark brown eggs. Mine kept laying the whole way through the winter cold.

One of my Blue Australorps, Cordon, laid even earlier than the California White did.

I've got a 19-week cockerel who is already dancing (the pullets aren't impressed, but he's trying).

I don't know if all Australorps run to early maturity like this, but I knew which members of "the blue blob" were boys by 3 weeks because those proud combs had already popped up.
