Just curious do you mean "ring shank" nails or "screw shank" nails?

Smooth, screw, ring but the screw shank is made from twisted wire and not run through a threader in this photo like typical pallet nails.

The nails I used are the ones on the right in your picture (I assume you were asking me not aart).

The center one.
Ring shank (on the right) can be tough to pull too,
but not near as bad as those screwy spirals.

We use the fencing staples to hold the hardware cloth and woven wire, pounding them into the framing of the roofed run, mostly 4x6' beams. Then the boards are screwed into those beams, and everything is attached well, 6" to 8" spacing between staples, and screws both. Sturdy!

Nesting Box V1

My focus was to get something done as two of the ladies are laying in two different places, one twice. The results were encouraging as all the hens immediately wanted into the box even from the moment that I set it down in preparation for mounting. It is high enough off the floor that they can go underneath (Crouching Tiger style) and top is 2" below top of roost bars. I have added a 45 degree roof since I took the picture so they cannot perch up there.

I constructed it such that I can adjust the tilt angle of the egg "tray" by removing two screws, re-setting angle and then re-screw; do not have to remove from wall.

The ladies are getting very familiar and flying up to sit on shoulders or lap; also crowding the person door to get out when we enter/exit. We need to discourage this...

They are also going up/down the ramp and using the roosts during the day (last pic), guessing it will not be long before they are voluntarily in use without us going out at night.

First picture shows sister putting two onyx eggs in the nest box with bits of straw to prevent them rolling.

View attachment 1916264 The lower 4' also has 2"x4" woven wire over the hardware cloth, as added security if big dogs show up. In bear country, I'd add electric.

I did something very similar, and added cattle panels over the hardware cloth on the bottom four feet of the coop. I used smaller fencing staples to attach the hardware cloth, and large fencing staples to attach the cattle panels. One shot from the outside, one from the inside.
