Awesome surprise!

Sad news....maybe? ...didn't see but 2 of the chicks this afternoon, the other one might still be alive, I just didn't see it. It wasn't terribly cold last night but it was fairly windy, might have gotten chilled? They are getting too big for Dad to keep them under him. Didn't take any pics today!
They were over in the pheasant pen, scaring the heck outta the pheasants! Dad kept chasing the pheasants away from the chicks!

Update:
Was 41°F last night and windy but they managed to survive another cold night. They will be 3 weeks old on Saturday.
Here's a few pics of them 'living dangerously', outside of their pen. The other male doesn't really have anything to do with them and they don't seem to care about him either! :idunno he doesn't try to harm them so at least that's a plus. These pics were taken from the outside of the pen. The waterer and feed trough is about 25' from were I was shooting. The enclosure is 6' x 30' x 7'.

it’s been a bit crazy round here too! Zeta blew through yesterday and flooded everything including the budgie nest that due to start hatching in about 1.5 weeks!!! I got everything dried and momma is back on the nest but not sure what effect cold water will have on the 5 eggs. I just pulled plug on the brooder heat lamp too with hopes that I can move the last pheasant chick with remaining quail (all around 5 weeks) and get them acclimated before frost tonight and freeze Sunday night 😵😵
