This is my favorite site for information and a laugh, but even here there is limited info on this breed.....I live on Long Island and am very interested in these guys now.

Can you help with more details about them.

Will they be ok in a coop in the Winter or do they need to be in the greenhouse in a coop.

Can I introduce them to my buff rocks when they are old enough ?

Are they loud and crazy or mellow and calm ?

I appreciate any information or help on these guys..... And of course if you have any for sale near... Or not so near.... The boys and wife do not mind a road trip....

Thank you for any help with this....

Here is some information on the breed:

The Ayam Cemani’s are friendly, likeable birds. The hens also tend to go broody, and make good mothers.

BACKYARD BEHAVIOUR

  • Hardy in Winter: Yes
  • Especially Docile: Yes
  • Personality: The Ayam Cemani is quite gentle and are not flighty or skittish. Breeders inform us that there has been no trouble integrating these chickens with an existing bunch, even groups of somewhat different ages.
