B.Y.C. Dorking Club!

i have often thought the corking might be a breed I am interested in, interesting, beautiful
I wouldn't have any other. tho i do have a few blrw and a lot of bantam cochins, the dorking is my #1 LF breed.

but don't tell them i said so, i keep threatening my 'on strike' hens with the crockpot.

Hi,

You are only a couple hours away from me. Are you going to breed or will these be for a backyard flock?

I ask because I have some chicks, a pullet and some hens that are not breeding quality, but would be fine for a backyard flock.

:welcome

Hey! Thanks for the reply. . .I wanted to eventually breed but I need to learn more about the breed its self. Was maybe thinking I could start out with what you have and see if I would like to move forward with others that are breeding quality. We mainly want them for meat purposes. I would be available to drive up that way next Wednesday or Thursday.

Thanks,
Chris

Ohh and thanks for the welcome!

oh dear! Chicken math...*sigh

I've been reading that Silver Grey Dorkings are rather rare; is this colour more than others hard to find?
i think ALL dorkings are rather hard to find... unless you know where to look. LOL silver grey and red are probably the most numerous, but that being said, they're still pretty uncommon.

Whose are my Rocks in my avatar. If you like the BR check out the Barred Rocks from Good Shepherd Ranch thread.

I need to get some pictures of the 2012 White Dorking males I have now.

I've narrowed down the selection in the grow out pen to these three cockerels. These are out of my breeding, hatched 3/10/12.

have you weighed them? i would tend to go with the middle or top one over the bottom (back looks shorter to me), but would use the heaviest one, if there's a clear difference.
