I'm on my 3rd hatch of white Dorkings. Not getting a lot of eggs but the ones I do get are fertile.

Very cool! Judging by your Rocks, your Whites are in good hands. It will be neat to see your stock develop. I'll try to share pic's, too; I just have to learn how to do it better. Our lines are related.

Hello, I am looking for hatching eggs from wheaten colored large fowl Dorkings, hopefully with good toes for a Salmon Faverolles out cross improvement breeding program. I already have genetics from Yellow House Farm in NH (awesome white RC) and would like to use something with a straight comb for more diversity- already have 3 F1s that will be used this year, one of which is hopefully going to help save the white LF variety in Faverolles. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I dont think that there are Wheaten Dorkings.

Yellow House Farm, here is one of my F1's who is going to help re-build the white variety in Favs, which lost nearly all birds in the last major flock last year (only a single pair left other then unknown pockets here and there)... VERY pleased with how the crosses turned out, and THRILLED this white roo will be helping bring back the white variety. First generations all had good beards and feathered shanks, but the girls were rose combed, while this fella has a nice 5 point straight comb.




The roo was a result of the Dorking roo over Salmmon Fav hens...





Here he is from a pullet fro the project, who was from a Salon Fav roo over Dorking girls

I have seen the ones that look wheaten and resemble Favs in color... perhaps they are called something else in the Dorking breed?

Looking pretty good. I'm glad you're making progress. The white male looks great. Indeed, the pair together in the last picture seems to have interesting type. Breeding some good whites would be nice to see. You'll have them to the Northeastern Poultry Congress. There was a rather good display of Faverolles there this month.

The closest to Fav's you can get in Dorkings--in males--is Colored Dorkings. There is nothing to approach the female. If you breed cross on cross in whigh quantity, you shuld be able to pull some salmon chicks.

got an email back from duane urch today, they still have silver grey dorkings, available this year. apparently they weren't cooperating the last couple so they were removed from the list.

That sounds like a good start! If you breed your single comb roo back to his sisters you, you should get about half single combed prodgeny. All your rose comb crosses should carry the single comb allele. Good luck with your project!
