B.Y.C. Dorking Club!

We just ordered a GQF MFG 1500 Digital Professional Cabinet Incubator. This year we'll use the reptipro for a small hatcher until we need something bigger. Should be here mid next week. So we'll be hatching before April. Once we are finished hatching what we need we might do white chicks and eggs. Chicks will be pick up only. First everything has to work though haha. Wish me luck........

Awesome!

Our hatches have been very strong. I hope you're seeing good egg size. The chicks are very vigorous this year. You'll notice that the cockerels are very quick to start playing around and mock skermishing.

We have had very few culls so far. Leg color seems to finally be ironed out. All but one of the chicks seem to be pure white. All but one of the chicks have been rose combed. Very few toes issues. Over all excellent exhuberance.

I'm looking forward to your results.

PS: Have you had good winter hardiness and strong winter laying?

I would say the whites have been quite winter hardy and strong layers. We definitely couldn't eat all the eggs they were producing. Everything seems to be working great so far. I still need to get some video's of the birds we are going to use for breeding.

The egg size looks good, medium to large. Nice white and round looking eggs too.

Yes I do remember some of the cockerels crowing already when we got them @ 5 weeks old. Can't wait to watch them develop from chicks.

We have a bunch of eggs ready for the new incubator once it arrives and is all dialed in. Just a few days away now! Thanks again for all the help and advice along the way.

Although this is not the American color version of the Red Dorking it is one of my favorite poultry prints.

well, i would say the rooster is close to the standard, color wise, the hens look more like colored hens the sop calls for. of course, that white ear on the roo is wrong...

Nice print but there are some big discrepancies with our Red SOP. I am not sure, but I believe the while ear lobe was not even ideal for the old English standard. On the other hand, it looks a lot like what you might see on my farm right now....

White in the ear-lobes of the Dorkings is problem and has been for a long time. Red ear-lobes & white eggs don't match.
