Ditto! Hate, hate, hate!! It is only because it is usually some teen bagging my groceries. My DH says he is just being polite (and I am sure he is but) it makes me feel

As far as Babe, my DH calls me that and I call him Hun. At home and in public

I think it was rude of the man to refer to the cashier as Babe though. The one I hate is Dude! We know couples that call each other Dude. My son has friends that refer to us as Dude when they are at our house, well I should say they use to call us that! DH put a stop to that!

ya'll have to forgive me at chicken stock then, its sir and ma'am otherwise I feel the ghost of a biff twang on the back of my head if'n i forget it.

Only my late mom was allowed to call me "babe"
And my dad was allowed to call me "baby".
That's it.

I told an employee who insisted on calling me "baby" that my name is Terrie. If you cannot get your lips to say my name, then Ma'am was ok, too.

Aw babe, don't be hatin' on the word babe, aight, babe?

Just kidding. I feel your pain! It makes me shudder whenever I hear people use "babe" or "hon" while talking to someone else, especially me.

I had a client that kept calling me hon... I said my name is ma'am... LOL

Sounds no different that someone in HI usin' the word "brah" or up here in Alaska, "man"...Ah, yes the subtle irritants of humankind...

Well, beings that some one else brought the subject up----------------------

I hate all the Ds in front of the H, the S, the M, the W, the SD, the SS, the F and all that stuff. Heck I ain't that fast, some times it takes me a while to run through the list of extended family relations before I get to one that matches. And besides that, specially with allot of you women, when ya'll are talking about your Dear whatevers, it sure don't sound like they is to dear to you.

When I am posting it is real easy for me to role off wife, son, daughter, dad, mom, brother, sister, but if I use the "Dear" system I end up like Tigger. You know, tapping foot, finger to side of head, thinkthinkthinkthinkthink.

I know my wife views me sometimes as her DDA (hah! figure it out), and not her DH, frankly I would settle for just plain old H. But then sometimes I view my wife as WWW, or when I get the "LOOK" as my WW, but mostly she is my W, sometimes she is my DW, sometimes she is my AW. Really though plain old W says it all, if she wasn't the W she would never qualify as the D, the W, the A, or (heeeheeehee) the WW.

but took my dil to the OB doctor once

What in the world is a dil?

I'll take the ma'ams. I've earned them.

Besides I grew up the daughter of a career naval officer. He's 87 (89?) and still refers to folks young and old as sir or ma'am, until he gets to know them well.
Twentynine - dil = daughter in law.
