Hatch days are SO AWESOME!!!

According to my counter these guys are a tad late but I like to always say “a hatchling is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to”

And it’s 12:30 at night and BOOM it’s like popcorn lol 20 went in my Janoel 12, 2 early demise, 18 were pipped earlier today/yesterday, 4 are out now, they are hatching in pairs lol

You look away, look back, and another is popping out! I love them so much!

Brown Coturnix babies!!! 14 more to go!

(I used to hang out in the chicken forums, but then I was a lurker for a while, now I’ve come back and come to this forum all because...quail lol)

I always wanted to raise Quail but I heard they're really expensive to keep.
Really? Oh no I don’t think so at all I dunno I only have 4 full size chickens, and the quail, a few breeders and now 8 babies from a couple weeks ago and tonight’s hatch, next week is another 40 or so, and then I’m done til July when I have some california hatching.

They seem same cost as chickens maybe less to me? But I don’t keep many chickens... they don’t go through as much food though. But I don’t have hundreds like some have so who knows! Lol!

3:45am 13 out of 18 are out and I plopped them in the brooder, it was getting to be a circus in the little Janoel 12, I am gonna pass out, I was waiting for them all but I’m not gonna make it lol

They seem to eat alot less and need less room, I only have 3 young ones though. But I never heard the were expensive to keep, always heard they were better for people with limited funds and space actually. ..
To op: oh how cute! I just love baby quail, I got 3 to hatch 3 weeks ago and already want more, they grow up shockingly fast! Mine are quite large and very fat, fully feathered. I miss the baby days!

80% - 2 did not make it out one was deformed slightly in the belly and the other I think was too weak and had an air sac issue.

I did help one or two out at the end but they prob would have made it out anyway as they had already unzipped I just wanted to clear the bator and get it turned off for now. They are so cute!
