Baby Button Quail Help Needed!!

Thank you! We had a little trouble yesterday with what we thought was diarrhea. But she had a bit of watery poop dried on her bottom. Every time we clean it she manages to do nice solid stools. Any suggestions as to how to stop the poop from sticking to her rather small cloaca? (We clean her brooder everyday twice a day.)

Hi guys little Suki is crashing again😭 She is straining real hard to poop and nothing is coming out. We have wiped her cloaca as clean as possible and now have rinsed it under warm water and applied petroleum jelly (vaseline) to her cloaca and all around it in hopes it helps her. But she is very weak and struggling. We blow dried her a bit as she was a little wet after we cleaned her and now she’s resting in her brooder to dry fully. Any suggestions??

Is it ok? And pine helps to not let poop stick to them

Hi all! Suki is very much alive and happy for the past day or two. She is now a whopping great 4 grams and still has her appetite and is pooping properly again.:ya Now comes my next round of questions!

As she is so small her brooder is a make shift ice cream container. She loves it, but she is gettin too big for it. I looked round the house and found an old wooden wine box in my rescue room that I was going to drill holes into to turn into a transport crate for small wildlife. However, it is the perfect size as its not way bigger than her current set up so it wont freak her out, but it also gives her more room to run around in when she’s not snoozing.

My only issue is that since it is an old wine crate it has the faintest smell of wine. Will that affect her? Bear in mind this box is decades old . There isn’t any spilt wine stains but it just has that smell. I’m trying to neutralize the smell using vinegar and dish soap, but I’d like your input. We’ve worked so dang hard to keep her alive and she’s so fragile! We can’t afford something like a change of environment kill her or make her sick.

Here is her old set up VS the new one I would like to use.
