umm if there is a hole in the egg and it takes more then a couple of hours then you should help them out because we had three eggs and they all had holes in them and we were able to help one out but the other two were already dead. and right when we got him out we bandaged him up so his insides couldnt come out so im hoping he lives

Sounds to me like your "helping" to much. It can take up to 24 hours to hatch after they "have a little hole". This is the time they absorb the yolk sack and close up so their inards don't fall out. You should never help a chick out of the shell, until after 24 hours after they start to zip. And they look to be in trouble. If your humidity was too high they would have never pipped to begin with. They would have drowned in the shell.

When you close the bator at day 18, leave it closed. The chicks know what to do. Sorry this happened on your first batch. But read the threads here about hatching. There is a wealth of info here. Keep on hatching and reading and you will have great hatches.

Give them at least 24 hours once they've "pipped" ( first hole in the egg). They pip, then start breathing oxygen, which tells it's body to start absorbing the yolk sac. If you help them out too early, they haven't had time to absorb the sac, rest, then hatch. It's easy to get anxious and want to help, but most of the time, when humans intervene, it's bad news. Good luck!
