Once you are certain it is a roo, which may be clear by 6 to 8 weeks, ask around if anyone wants a rooster. Many feed stores will help to place roosters. Check in with 4H groups if anyone wants a project (you will need to know the breed). Last, you can try Craigslist. Screen the responses to be sure he will go to a home you approve for purposes you approve. You would be looking for a farm that wants a pleasant fellow to watch over their flock.

Sadly, it can be hard to place some roosters, so you may have to leave him at a feed store with best of wishes and luck. Google to see if there is a rooster re-home program in your area too.

Okay I went to atwoods where I got him and put him back there today. Cause I didn't want to take a chance of him being a rooster. I felt bad tho cause as I walked off he put his head up and looked at me as I walked away wondering where I was going? I felt so bad cause I loved him! :c but I got two new more chickens. so now I have 4 instead if 3 ^^

this is my new white one. Has a very small comb like the other two pullets!

I think that was a good choice. I'm so glad the feed store stood behind their chicks. I trust you are getting sexed chickens...ie the hatchery has sexed them at hatch through vent checking. You have good odds that it will be a pullet, and you did right to pick one with small comb.

...and chicken math has struck...take 1 back, get 2. That's how I grew my flock from 4 to now, ahem, currently 21.

I wish you many good days with your little flock.

this a another one of my new chickens. Do you know what kind of breed this one might be?

If it is barred, not sure...but I think it is blotchy from juvenile feather growth...that looks to be a Gold Star. Great layer and sexed by color....which means if that's a Gold Star (Gold Comet, many other names), it's 100% girl.

I think the white one is another White Rock or White Leghorn, but looks more pullet. White Leghorn will have white earlobe and really big floppy comb, eventually, even for the girls. White Rock will have red earlobe, smaller comb. WL will lay LOTS of white eggs, be a bit flighty. WR will lay plenty of brown eggs and be a bit calmer. Rocks are often very curious and can be quite personable.
