baby duck with lots of problems

Your so right Amykins they each have their own personality. We always call Topper a fluzzie. Clyde is protective and the doting dad, Donald thinks Dee and Topper hung the moon. Thelma and Louise are the motherly types that want to have babies all the time. Sonny is a cassanova who wants all the girls even tho he has more girls then any of the boys. Poor Freckles she kind of on the bottom of the pecking order C.P. doesn't take up for her at all. Donald tries to block her from eatting with Topper and Dee and he makes me so mad. Hershey and yoo Hoo hang out together they are the teenagers of the group. Que Sera and Uno are the babies Que Sera is the talker which she talks constantly and I never hear a peep out of Uno. Rhonda Runner is quiet and kind of hangs out in the backround of their group. Topper is not only a fluzzy but she thinks she is Queen of the yard. As I said before she is a pig in a ducks body. She takes her half out of the middle of any treats and she feels like it is her place to do so. Que Sera is a pig when it comes to watermelon. She will dart and zip after the bites I throw I think she is going to give Topper a run for her money when she grows up. Topper might be queen of the yard now but Que Sera is the princess.

I left out Sherry she is totally in love with Clyde and hangs with him all the time.

Your group sounds alot like mine. I so enjoy all the different personalities they have and how they interact with each other. Since I re homed my other 2 drakes boy does Opie gets loved on in the morning. And you can tell he enjoys it.

It's so funny when I first let them out they all gather around Opie as they are walking to their side of the fence and talking every breath.

Clyde is your Pekin drake ? What breed is Sherry?

Thank you Julie we love you too and your little finch duckies.  He helped me catch Que Sera all it takes is track shoes and a few laps around the yard and we have her.  I can hold Uno too but it's the same as with Que Sera the little chase game.  Uno is as big as Que Sera now.  I haven't tested his vocal voice for a couple of weeks now but I'm betting he is a boy.  Que Sera in the beginning grew by leaps and bounds.  It doesn't seem like she is getting any bigger now she's about Topper and Rhonda Runners size.  If Clyde the pekin is Que Sera's dad the only genes he passed along was her color.  She remains all white and mostly upright like the runners.  Uno is almost all white except for his patches around his eyes which makes him look like he has a black eye all the time.

Autumn my little EE chicken was in the nest box a while ago.  I'm anxious to see what color egg she is going to lay.  I have 3 EE's but they have yet to lay an egg and think Autumn is going to be the first one to lay.  So I might get a blue or green egg.  I guess the ducks and chickens won't mind eatting a colored egg shell.  I always chop them up after I boil them and they eat shell and all.

Thank you, Patty. It is funny he bad to put track shoes on to catch the little zippy thing. Do you think it is possible that Clyde is her dad and maybe Rhonda Runner her mom? Then she'd be Uno's half sister. Your EEs sound so sweet and kind. Could you post a couple photos when you get a chance? I'd love to see Autumn.

Does anyone know when the momma duck starts laying eggs again after hatching some babies? Lady hatched them two and a half months ago so wondering when she'll start laying eggs again. I read somewhere that the babies are essentially adults at the two month mark because that's when they can fly and fend for them selves, is that true? Excuse all my questions today I just can't find a straight and anywhere else and I know you're all super smart about ducks

That is usually when my ducks begin laying again around the time their ducklings are 8-9 weeks old. especially if they have had any contact with a drake.

Ditto to what Miss Lydia said. I'm a little surprised she hasn't started laying yet. Can you remind me what breed she is?

Sure! These aren't very good photos (which is why I didn't sell very much, hehe) but here are some of the works in progress I've had the past year or so. Did a lot of quirky jewelry bits, and later on I made clay blanks for tabletop gamers who wanted custom figurines.

Wow, those are phenomenal.

That stuff is so neat! I can't believe you didn't sell much of it. You really have talent. I can't do anything creative.

This is Sherry, Robbie took this picture earlier. She is one of our mixed breeds she looks just like Thelma' Louise and Freckles. They were hatched last year. We kept the girls because we had so many boys and not enough girls.Yes Clyde is the Pekin duck and the only Pekin we have.

I'm glad Opie is enjoying all of the attention he gets from the girls. So when the 2 drakes left he was the only drake in that group then? It's funny how they each have their little families and the girls seem content to stay with the group.

I hope everyone has a nice day.

Patty
