baby duck with lots of problems

Okay, so I made a post about needing some stuff for chicks at a cheap price and got a kiddie pool free and some links to diy stuff so the only thing we need to buy is food and the actual chicks! I called the place advertising Easter Eggers and they've not actually got any

but they did have the welsummers and my next choice of Wyandottes, are they a nice breed, are they fighty at all? And my third choice of Ameraucanas..
Also, someone said Easter Eggers are the same as Ameraucana, is that true? Sorry for all the questions, I just know you all will give it to me straight!
I'd go here and ask https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/279470/the-wyandotte-thread and Ameraucanas are similar to EE's so you'd be getting the same there.

https://www.backyardchickens.com/products/ameraucana Congrats on getting things and now you only haveto buy feed and the chicks So when will you be getting them?
Where is everyone today ??

There were actually 4 ducks in the river pretty sure someone put them there[dumped] all 4 drakes 3 Muscovy hybrids and the daddy most likely Billy Bob.. Billy was the only one who could fly. We rescued 2 of the Hybrids first by making friends with them which wasn't hard since they were so hungry The 3 hybrid we could never catch although we sure tried my dh and ds an I walked him all over that river at one end and he still managed to elude us and the next week we saw him dead in the river.

Having Ernie up here with 4 girls I kept these 2 at the river down below our home and one day here comes Billy Bob flying in so I started feeding them and eventually set up a dog expen got them use to eating in there caught them and brought them home. Oh boy did I open up a can of worms. The Hybrids would gang up on the females and Ernie would chase Billy Bob from sun up to sun down daily. We had a new roof put on our home that year and one of the sons of the roofing company owners wanted a couple of ducks so the hybrids went home with him. Which left Billy Bob and I picked up 3 new girls just for him Ruth Emmy and Sophia when I re homed Billy B Sophia went with him. The person I gave these 2 too eventually gave them to someone else, I was sad about that since I was hoping he'd keep them forever. That's alot of reply lol. sorry so long.
NO, it isn't Patti. I enjoyed reading it. I think it is cool the ducks ended up near your end of the river. Don't even wanna know what stupid people are thinking when they dump birds. It is obvious they did since they didn't fly. Could Billy fly long distances? Sad about the 3rd who died. What is a hybrid, a part muscovy, part mallard?

Good for Ernie. In his younger days he sure was a formidable bird. I wish you knew who now has or had the 2 you gave to the roofer. It would be cool to know what became of them.

I've decided that I'll just get the Ameraucanas this time, while the wyandottes are beautiful birds, and I still want some, I really like the looks of the EE's and Ameraucanas (the muffs got me sold) and the colorful eggs are just a plus! I still wont know till after Wednesday if we can get some this year, but I'm hoping we can get some this year!

I enjoyed your stories about getting the ducks as well! It's sad though that people would dump such helpless birds, sad that you couldn't save the 3rd one, but at least the others are okay!

That is so sweet. He is intense. Look at how serious he is. I want to squeeze all your birds, Patti. Will they let me?
If your fast Julie you can squeeze some. I like to grab my geese when they are close by and get a hug. Only Missy really stresses out if you get her. She has gotten alot more relaxed over the 3 yrs I've had her but she went 4 months with out human contact being minimal so she isn't as easy to hug as the others. Opie you can pick right up he loves to be petted and hugged on. All my girls are pretty stand offish when it comes to touching but will walk up and eat out of our hand.

I think because of the size of the 2 drakes we rescued they were Pekin/ Muscovy I wish I had a pic of them on my computer but I had them 2 yrs before I got my first computer. Bill could fly really well and so could Ernie and the 3 drakes that we met at the river back in 2004 they would fly every morning right above the water it was a pretty sight.

Our EE's are very friendly and I think alot of it was getting them as tiny chicks and spending time with them. We could sit on the floor and they would walk all over us. Those pretty blue eggs are a plus too. and the muffs are really cool.

Well, I am glad you can get a squeeze in on some of them and I bet they are so soft and warm. I like that they are big enough so that you can get in a good hug. On the other hand I woouldnt wanna stress any out such as Missy. I am glad she's come around. Is Opie easy to handle because you have him inside alot or is it his personality? Is he heavy?

It amazes me those birds you rescued could fly. Only because I am not used to domestic ducks flying. Since owning Ernie have you been clipping his wing? It is cute imagining him in flight.

Ernie is not kin to Opie one of my Muscovy drakes I rescued from the river is Opies daddy looks just like him too. Maybe that is why Ernie hates him so he also hated Billy Bob Opies dad, I re homed him after we took Opie inside to raise. Having 3 drakes and all the fighting was too much this was over 4 yrs ago and I still miss that drake.

Oh look at that face on Suzie she is thinking go ahead make my day she pinches hard like her mama. I do take eggs out from under them, she only had one egg this morning so her sis Sassy is laying still. No eggs were found under Hope and Joy so neither of them are laying now. Opie does sleep with Hope and Joy at night. As long as he behaves himself.
That is probably why Ernie hates Opie so much he reminds him of Billy Bob. These names kill me.

If I ever get another duck I'm going to let you name it. I've never had a problem with the drakes fighting. They shove each other and chase but it doesn't last long. I've had major problems with the roo's fighting. I would be trying to break them up and they would be spurring and pecking me.

Those girls are just waiting for you to slip up and not find their eggs. If I can catch mine early enough and I get the eggs they give up on the sitting. Thank goodness.

Patty
