baby duck with lots of problems

I have threatened my computer before.

It doesn't help tho. I have been having problems with this sight. Half of the above messages cover the new ones. I don't know if it's my puter or the sight.

Patty
Doesn't help here either Patty,They have a mind of their own.

That's so sweet, I'm sure it is a game with her to be chased. She knows you wont give up to catch her.
Sorry I've been inactive lately, i've had one thing after another go wrong. Our other car broke something in it's engine, that was a minor heartattack because we replace the engine a year ago and didn't get rid of it so we were able to use parts from that to fix this one, it would've been so expensive otherwise. And those darn hawks are keeping my girls cooped up all day. I've gotta save up to build them a run, especially before spring when they hawks have babies.
The babies are getting so big, we introduced them to the big girls the other day and they mostly stayed away from each other, one of the big girls came over everynow and then and pecked the babies, more so when they were eating. I didnt think the one pecking was the head hen, but maybe? I could see the babies stand up taller and ruffle their feathers, but they never fought back, is this good? Sorry for all the questions, just am still newer to this! I'll definitely post pictures later!!
I am sorry to hear about your other car. It is annoying when something important like that breaks down. I hate it when birds are mean to more vulnerable ones. It is sad. How is Dave doing?

Congrats Patti on your picture of the geese getting in the calendar. I can't think of their names I'm sorry. I knew it would get in it was just breathtaking to see it.

Please don't tell Opie his little pride has been hurt enough by Sam. I can see it now ripping the calendar down like he does the dishtowels.

I tried to order one but the site is messed up I'm sure they will fix it soon. I can't wait to get one and congrats again Patti I'm so happy for you.

It's going to be a warm one here today. 84 but that's fine by me I don't want winter to get here. Hubbie is still working on the duck house he's built them some fancy nesting boxes. It sits below the picture window so it doesn't block their view. Now all we have to do is to convince them to go inside. That's another story.

I hope everyone has a great day.

Thanks Patty for the congrats. Every time I see that pic I am amazed I actually was there to get it. Me and photography are not friends.

Any way I was very happy to see they made it in. Really to me shows just how devoted geese are to each other.

we're having mild temps to into upper 60's and close to 70 tomorrow then back down into low 60's but still awfully nice weather for fall. I hope your Hubby get the duck house finished and they get to move in before cold sets in.. Nice nest boxes well you'll need to post some pics when it's all done. These men are nice to have around aren't they.

My son has built a goose shelter for me I wanted something for them to get out of the weather if I have to put them up into the other fenced off area when they are not nice to the rest of the flock well it wasn't going to have a floor but now it does and It will have doors so if I have to separate the 2 pairs come breeding season I will have a place for the other 2 to sleep Hopefully I won't have to separate them but I need to be ready just in case. So what started out as one thing has lead to another but so thankful my son was willing to do it for me.

I was thinking about putting the calendar in Opie house but I figured once he saw Sam he'd rip it to shreds so I gave up that idea. I have a feeling Opie being dethroned is short lived, once testosterone is once again flowing through his body he'll yank Sam down off his throne and we will start all over again

Hey how is Clyde doing? I'd like to say Ernie is up chasing Ruth around the yard but he is in retirement with that, but he is up walking some so I am happy.

Your very welcome and the picture does show the love for each other. Just beautiful and you captured the moment perfectly.

I'm glad your son is building you a goose shelter and the added bonus of having a floor and a way to partion them off if needed. You never know how their going to do when shut up. At least now you won't have to worry. I hope hubbie gets done with the duck coop before winter sits in.

I'm sure Opie will get Sam once his harmones kick in this spring. Poor baby has to wait until spring to get him back.

Clyde is still taking his pills every morning. We have a little system going, he wants me to throw both pieces of bread at the same time so once he gets up and gets going he can go after them both. My arm isn't getting any better with the throwing but he is doing so much better. He's not chasing Sherry around the yard yet but at least he is moving a lot better then what he was. I noticed another thing that Que Sera has in common with Clyde. They both have orange bills. She doesn't have Clydes size she just looks like a streamlined version of Clyde.

Aww a streamlined version of her dad, well she can thank her mom for that, maybe she'll keep her slimness all her life. Never seen many chubby Runners before. lol

so cool of Clyde taking his meds. Sweet boy. How is Topper?

Topper was bad this morning. I usually call Que Sera's group into the back yard and shut the gate so Toppers gang will stay out. I'm putting the food down and there is Topper shoveling the eggs. I run Topper out and shut the gate but I think Freckles got shut in the back she must have snuck in with Topper. When I go out front to feed Topper and her gang they are hanging out by the back gate concerned for Freckles. Finally Toppers stomack overruled her concern for her friend and lead the pack to the front yard to eat. I then let Freckles out of the back yard and advised her not to listen to Topper, she will get you into trouble everytime.

I love this thread! I always read it, but don't chime in that often.

Patty, I tried really hard to get that lovely picture of Turbo in the calendar. I hope you'll submit it again next year. I also badly wanted the other picture that you submitted, Patti, of the duckling and adult right outside a pool. Was it Opie when he was a baby with his mom? Sorry, I can't remember now. Please submit again next year, too, please.
