baby duck with lots of problems

Thanks for the prayers Deb and Miss Lydia he needs all the help he can get. While my husband went to tractor supply I got the food back out to see if he would eat any. One bite out of the spoon and he was finished. I put his chick starter in a little bowl and he started gobbling it down. It was dry and straight from the bag. I'm glad to find something he will eat and it sure is alot easier then the applesauce, crumbles and boiled egg. He ate and drank of course for 20 minutes.

We got the nutri drench and I put a drop straight in his mouth. It was like wrestling with a summa wrestler but we got it down him. I also put some in his water dish.

He's laying now under his light in his donut towel. Bless his little heart he's a trooper. I was so happy to see him gobbling down that food. There is still hope thank goodness.

A sumo wrestler well good to know Turbo has got strength. if he is perky than decide if you wan to continue to put it into his mouth or just keep putting it into his water. make it fresh everyday though. I am so thankful he ate and drank so good.

Turbo has now got a roommate. As long as they get along I will try and keep them togeather. One of our mother ducks left the nest a couple of days ago after she hatched 4 of her chicks. I was checking out the nesting box and there was still 4 eggs left. I noticed one rocking and I heard a little peep. It had piped and it's beak was sticking out. With lots of encouragement and a little help it hatched. I put the little duck in with Turbo in a box. It makes Turbo look so big now. After it dried off and took a little nap it was out running the cage. Turbo was so excited he flipped almost on top of it. I put the two of them togeather in the box and they touched beaks for a couple of minutes then they both settled down and are now sleeping. Turbo had his head across the little ones back and both are sleeping side by side.

I';m going to put the nutri drench in their water. It's alot easier then wrestling Turbo trying to get his beak opened. He doesn't seem to mind the nutri drench in the water.

Good night all ..

That is great for Turbo! Having a friend will definitely keep his spirits up.

Miss Lydia I think this little duckling has improved Turbo at least 80%. Turbo was little rough at first trying to figure out this strange creatures beak and little beady eyes. She didn't look like a human at all but she was sure nice to cuddle up to and take naps. Turbo slept in his cage for the first time last night. He was checked on many times to make sure he hadn't flipped on his back. He drank all of his water with the nutrdrench in it so he was up and about. He's still not steady on his feet but he's making progress with that too. Oh by the way I've named the little one Que Sera which means what will be will be.

Turbo has taught Que Sera how to eat and drink. They stand side by side at the food bowl and water bowl. He wouldn't eat his breakfast in the kitchen because Que Sera was in the cage crying for him. He's a big boy now.

Anyway I am so happy for him. I can sit and watch the two of them for hours.

Thanks for your interest in the little guy he sure is a sweetheart and I am so thankful I found Que Sera.

Patty

P.s. I'll keep your updated on the two of them.
