You're welcome. So then are they at all receptive to pets and snuggles after breeding season or are gooses more a hands off burd?

Well everyone had dried meal worms all but the 2 ganders and they wouldn't be caught dead eating them, so they missed out. The boys love whole corn but I don't give that out till winter.
If I can find some water melon at the price you got it for Patty I'll treat them tomorrow with that. The boys will eat water melon. [sometimes I sneak the ganders a little Arnold 7 grain bread]

I hope you find some watermelon for the boys. That is so funny that the girls love the meal worms and the boys wouldn't touch them. Do they let you feed them out of your hands?

They are so dedicated to each other. I love them so much.

I can see why Miss Lydia. It's such a wholesome sense of satisfaction seeing them so bonded like that. I would not be able to stop staring at them.

Sounds like Que Sera is really making such great progress one of these evening she won't want to come inside. Opie was in for a little while today too.

She's making great progress. I know one day she will want to stay out and I hope she is like Opie and still comes in to visit. I'm glad he got to come in and visit and of course he probably got his kibble. He looked so cute laying on his towel in that picture.

Wow!  Positively gorgeous!!

What are the primary differences (personality, lifestyle, required care) between ducks and geese?  I'm already thinking of adding and not sure if I should stick with ducks or branch out with geese.

Oh my word Debs. I'd be stoked if you got a goose bird. Looking at Miss Lydia's has made me fall in love with them.

Awe, you're welcome Patty. I hope it isn't his hip. And I hope it's not painful what ever it is he has. He is such a beautiful guy.

I think it's his hip. His feet didn't look bad at all. I hope it's not painful either I'm putting brewers yeast tablets in his water bowl now. I don't know how old he is. Hubbie bought him for me about 3 years ago.

Awe, I am glad you got Clyde and saw be only had callouses. Hopefully they go down. I bet he is a big soft duck bird who feels cuddly. Even if Que Sera assimilates more with the flock, do you think she will still be receptive to your holding her? It is great she is going out more but I hope she stays bonded to you. It's fun to hear how she sits next to you.

I couldn't believe how soft Clydes feathers were. He really seemed to enjoy everyone petting him and making over him. I hope that Que Sera will always remember the bond we have. She isn't glued to my ankle anymore but if she gets afraid she will run over to me. I am her protector or I guess her mom.

Then last year in June we added 2 goslings Babe who turned out to be a gander and Toots the light one who is American Buff is the female they were 1 yrs old last of May I got them as 2 day olds. Missy and Sammy lost their only gosling to make it to hatch it died trying to hatch. So we got these 2 for them after I kept them for 3 weeks while Missy got over brood and loss I gave the 2 to them and they have been one happy family ever since.

Wonderful outcome. And sweet, too.

Your not suppose to let geese eat out of your hands they say it can make for aggression and it probably would or biting because Missy when she takes anything from me is doing it so fast she alot of times gets my thumb. Sam will take things from me and Toots but not Babe. I only do this in non breeding months you do not stick out your hand during Breeding season. Most of the time your trying to keep the ganders at a nice safe distance.

They are like totally different geese since breeding and laying has ended. laid back and mellow to an extent they will still make the ducks and chickens keep their distance.

Do the ganders just hate the taste of them?

I don't know it I stick the container out there Sammy sticks his nose up in the air and Babe will just look at them. Missy and Toots love them. lol
