baby duck with lots of problems

Such cute outfits! I love them both so much and the stories that come along with them. I've got a duck named Dave, he's a welsh harlequin and used to be a house duck full time but it's only part time now because he got a wife a while back and has some kids as well. The stories Opie coming in remind me of my Davie. Love all the stories you all tell

Well Dave now has responsibility of a wife and kids so he is very busy.Is that Dave in your Avatar? such a handsome fellow.

Opie has a harem and sometimes he needs a break from it all that's when he comes in an chills for a while. He use to have only 2 girls but now since 2 drakes went to new homes he has responsibility of 5 girls and is still getting use to it. lol

I should have gotten a pic of her. She was my all time favorite chicken. Aww I bet they loved Opie at the nursing home. Of course they wanted to hold him. Who can resist a baby duckling and especially when it's Opie.

My mom loved chickens the way I do. When she would come to visit she would always want me to go get one of the chickens so she could hold it. She said it reminded her of holding a baby. When she went to a nursing home I asked if I could bring one of my chickens to go see her. They told me it would be ok. I took Eva a little sebright hen to visit her. Mom loved it. She had held Eva many times before. Some of the aids and nurses wouldn't even come in the room because they were afraid of Eva. Eva weighed about a pound. Mom had a crowd of people in the hallway all peeping in to see this chicken. Several people did venture in to pet her. Eva loved the attention and enjoyed the petting.

I bet Eva was a big hit. Alot of folks in Nursing homes had farms and can relate to chickens and ducks since they may have had them in the past, and who can not like a tiny sebright chicken I bet she was adorable.

sweet sweet story Patty about Eva and your mom. I would have love to have held that little bird. On the rare occasions I bold my finches and kiss them, it makes my brain feel good; neurotransmitters firing off dopamine. That is why there is nothing crazy about one loving, housing, dressing or snuggling their bird.
Thank you Julie and your exactly right. Holding your birds and petting them makes you feel peaceful and releases your stress.

Opie has a healthy balance in his life. Do the girls get jealous of each other?

Yes, Patty, it does. Holding and staring at them also does wonders for me. They are so warm and soft. Jibby bit my lip when I kissed the side of his face and it was painful but I didn't mind. Put him back in the cage quickly cuz I didn't want to stress him. Told him it was his fault for being so cute.
