baby duck with lots of problems

The blanket reminds me of some years back we were having a real bad cold spell. My Mom called and wanted to know if the chickens needed any blankets. She said she had some extra ones and she was worried about them getting cold. I told her they would be fine we have the heater going in the coop. She loved the chickens as much as we do.

and it is always nice to share too. Sometimes I look out the back door and everyone is standing out there like they are waiting for me to bring them a plate of something. I'll have to do that soon. I do make fermented feed for them.

of course that isn't human food though.

If I leave the kitchen door open the chickens will line up on the porch looking in. We have a full view storm door so they can see everything when their out there. I always tell hubbie I think we have guests for supper tonight.

I've never tried the fermented food before. Do the ducks and chickens like that? We've got one of those nipple water thingies hooked up in a bucket in the coop. I hope they get used to drinking out of it. Has anybody else tried these? I haven't seen any of the chickens getting a drink out of it yet we just installed it today.

Make sure they know how to use it! Sometimes they are real bird brains. Lol

I tried to show the head hen how to drink out of the nipple thing but she didn't want to even try it.

That is true they watch us like their looking at people tv.

No water = no eggs. Sit with them and make sure a few of them get it. Get a drop on your finger and put it on their beak. Show them where it came from. They watch and learn from each other.

Patti I love your new avitar pic. Is that Sammy? You need to save it that would make a great calendar pic for next year. By the way I got my new calendar with the other birds besides chickens. It's great can't wait to hang it up come January. Has everyone ordered their calendar yet? I'm telling you it is nice and you won't be disappointed.
