Baby egg

Went out to get eggs this morning and found this really small egg ....kinda cute. ...lol

I know my reds are laying the large eggs and my new barred rocks aren't laying yet do to being introduced to the flock. But I have to believe it came from one of the rocks, I guess it's a start. Any one else come across this situation.

It's perfectly normal in girls that have just begun laying. It can take a while for their plumbing to sort itself out.

It's called a "fart egg" and is normal for young hens just starting to lay.

Oh yeah and they usually have no yolks

I blow them out and make ornaments out of them.

In my experience the small fart eggs aren't so much from new pullets as older birds who are just having a glitch in their systems. sometimes it's followed by a double yolker, or a shell-less egg.

So I openedup the fart egg ....in the pan. Whats that in the middle?

Ok...It looks like yolk
