Baby peachicks

I have 16 hens, and am barely keeping up. I am looking for a few more cabinet incubators. I am checking out plans to make a hatcher. Need one desperately.

Use www.zoomthelist.com and search craigslist ads in your state or surrounding ones to locate a hatcher,,nows not the best time to find one for sale but you never know. If you've got a few nights and decent with drywall screws as I am,you can make a nice box the size you want and add the components rather cheeply and make your own hatcher the size you want

I feel your pain. I'm setting eggs about every 5 days. I have several due to hatch around the 21st. That will give me some more room.

Yes, I have been looking on craigslist and ebay. thought it might be just as well as I make my own. Not real handy with tools, but I can put something together to work. I think the most important part is keeping the temp right along with the humidity.

When the girls all start going I set eggs every 4th day here. I bought a wine cooler that I keep eggs in before going into the incubator and I also have no less than 2 bottle of wine inside that cooler for hatch a longs. My justification for buying the cooler-fridge was keeping pea eggs cool, but it doubles when used for it's original purpose too. Digital temp conttols from 38 degrees up to 60 degrees, works great.

If you visit zoo med they make terrarium equipment that is digital. I bought the fogger and controller so it controls heat and rh once I set it. I've read great reviews on them so thats what I'm going to put in my hatcher.

Ok, I will have to check them out. I have started looking at plans and examples from webs sites. I found one that is somewhat of a long distance from me that is for sale for #325.00, kinda pricey, but has all the quality, good stuff needed for hatching. Still looking though...Good idea for the wine cooler, by the way...

You guys are amazing! That is a lot of eggs to take care of! My DH would kill me if I got that many peas. It would be fun to see your places....probably a good thing I don't live close or I would be coming home with a new kind all the time! :)

3BirdGirlz,, taking care of the flock for 9 months is always paramount here because egg laying is such a short time for Peafowl.I'm one of the worst in this forum for buying first, building last. If you check back in this Peafowl forum to the thread Pea Palace (Pic Heavy) you will see the date I started the thread and building it,vs's when I bought more birds and got them into breeding pens for the season. I think it all was built in about 40 days. This year my goal is to hatch more chicks so once again I need larger incubating capacity and a hatcher set up for the sole purpose of Peachicks, not chickens. Some aspects of peafowl are tough and hatching them is a nightmare for some. I personally look forward to it and by hatching 2 groups of eggs each week the celebration of life is abundant here.

The only pair that has not laid so far is my bronze pair LOL I have one bator full and started up the back up incubator but it has not been used so trying to get the correct temp right now. Eggs will go in tomorrow night

Good thing cause the eggs in the first incubator should be starting to hatch and should be out by the end of next week. Already got chick orders LOL the eggs didn't even hatch yet LOL
