Possibly. Do you heat the Kaytee up in the microwave? Microwaves can cause hot spots in the food, so that could cause it too.

Of and on for about 2 weeks. 48 hrs at first, I took it off and 2 days later he was sticking them sideways again. This is the 4th time now. He seems to be good for a bit and then goes back to splayed legs.

Oh, and as a side question - how's the tongue look now?

The tongue is still about the same, the split seems to be gone.
