Baby silkies

Haha! Did not know all that! I'm still a chicken newbie. Lol. Guess that's what happens when you buy chicks from CalRanch. Lol.

Thanks a ton!

I just gotta say, finding that out made my day. I have a very small flock, but I love having a variety of kinds. So instead of just adding one additional kind, I'm getting 2! So excited! And by googled pics, Cochins are beautiful! :D

Makes a lot of sense why they are such different sizes too. Lol.

Glad to hear that - so often when you have to tell someone they don't have what they think they do it is a major disappointment to them, so nice to see that this is not an all bad surprise for you

Mix ups happen - even with what would appear to be a pretty obvious difference. The key is whether anyone knew better - many times store staff (assuming that is what Calranch is - a farm store?) know only what they have on the packing slip so if a bird has been mis-packed they are none the wiser, or someone (customer) may pick up a chick from one bin and put them back in another, etc. Also, many times silkies are in the "assorted" bins (ie assorted bantams), and in that situation it's better for the consumer to know what they are looking for to be able to pick out specific breeds, etc.
