I have several cherries and peaches I have grown from pit as an experiment. I just put them in pots and left them out all winter and they sprouted, i'm going to transplant them when they get bigger.
I got several cherry trees on ebay very cheep and some where exactly what they said and others where just wild cherries i suspect.

While it is helpful to know the variety name for MANY reasons, I do have an appreciation for the wild types. As a kid, ate lots of chokecherries.

Have a few apple seeds that I am holding on to and thinking about. Need to know if thee need cold treatment......

I have tried to start many apple seeds. I put several in the fridge for a few weeks to a couple of months. The ones that were in the fridge lasted the longest so far.

Rootstock and scions arrived today---I was secretly hoping the order was lost or the order didnt go thru ( despite getting an order #).... because I"M TERRIFIED to try this grafting again.......DH likes to point out my failures.... I tell him, I wont gett better skilled if I dont keep practicing.....
From first effort, 4 pear trees survived. None of the grafts took, if you remember.
Will try a simpler graft technigue this time. Also it is not February. Will need to get in ground asap I think. And seal all leaks oooops, Im mean cuts. lol

Oh my enabling friends........found this with a little google.....https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/fruits/cherry/grow-a-cherry-tree-pit.htm

Also, found cherry trees at a better price. https://www.springhillnursery.com/category/edibles
$25 rather than the $39 at Geurney's. One on sale for $19+. Though Spring hill has few varieties of cherries and Geurneys has sandcherry, nanking and all 3 dwarf cherries.

Love chokecherries. :love I made them into jam. Takes a bit to separate the pulp from the pits..... I know I did NOT pit, so perhaps cooked the whole berries and then separated out the pits from the pulp. I do know it would not have been strained for a jelly. We rarely made jellies. Chokecherry jelly tastes wonderful, and is not like a cherry jam...or different enough.

Pears-- made marmelades by grinding the fruits in a meat grinder like tool, a coarse grind. THe pears were very firm. I am wondering if my mother still has that pear....?

How do you use the apples?? :pop

Hey friends. Used promo codes to buy from Spring Hill

0460878 is 33% off order experation I didnt check

Just bought 3 cherry trees for about $52.

For 2 trees I was short of the $50 limit, so added another $19.95 tree and netted a $5 savings AND a third tree.

or could have bought 2 varieties, at 1/3 off $45 and then add shipping.
