What breed rabbits do you have?

I got some NZW's and a pair of Rex's. I crossed a Rex with a NZW so that'll be fun to see what I get from that, but I've heard that Rex fur dont cross well...

Chickens stir up an incredible amount of dust. Rabbits can react poorly to dust. The same is true for ammonia build-up.

While I've raised them in the same building together before, it was an open front building and very well ventilated.

Never heard of how rabbits can be a source of illness for chickens. Perhaps someone else has.

Well I keep them outside, the weather here this time of year gets to about 25 -35 degrees at night I worry that by the time the babies come it would be to cold. This will be my first time breeding so any experienced wisdom is always helpful. Thanks!

Some breeders bring the boxes in and take them out for feedings. You can also buy/make nestbox warmers. If babies are out of the elements (which they should be), they should be fine in 25-35 degree temps. I lost a whole litter though in 18 degree temps a month ago-I think they got dragged out after nursing and froze

Hello every one.
Been away for awhile but had to come back to BYC. Just bought my daughter a rabit for her 10th birthday. I dont know what breed he is except that he is a boy, for Sure:) Now I was thinking about breeding them. Is there a place one can go to to find that type of info?
Have a great day all
Michael

The whole topic of rabbits is a little bitter sweet for me. I had over 30 Holland Lops at one point, but had to sell out due to some ongoing health problems in the family. I kept only one little guy, Tucker. He's now a house bunny and I love having him around, but every time I see a beautiful Lop doe, I get the urge to start raising them again. I miss watching the babies grow and the excited smiles of customers when they pick out their favorite and I hand him/her over. Oh, well, maybe someday....
