question for big medicine:

Anyone that knows are welcome to comment.

I have added Buff Black and Blue Orpington's to my flock this year. I understand the Blue black and splash ratio's but was wondering what Black on Buff and Blue on Buff ratios would be?
I heard some used Black on buff to deepen the buff color when breeding a lighter colored hen.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

According to the calculator, black and buff make 100% black. Blue and buff make 50% black and 50% blue.

I have 2 Brahmas. They are adorable and sweet girls. Still waiting for the first egg from them. Shouldn't be long. They are rather quiet but love to follow me around the yard. My 2 EE's have been laying for about 2 weeks. I'm a newbie and I just love em!

We love our Brahmas. We started our flock this spring from chicks bought at the feed store. We pretty much got two of each breed we liked. They are the clowns of our flock. And CLEVER! We let them out on alternating days to free range. They have a large pen but also a 3 acre yard to roam surrounded by 16 acres of pasture/brush. They definitely love to dig around no matter where they are. When you feed them and then try to leave on the days we keep them in the pen, they will try to sneak behind you to dart out. When you turn around and catch them, them have the funniest expressions. Ours have some feathering on their feet and legs but not so much as to be a hygiene issue with mud, etc.

Hi,
I have a light brahma, Henry, who is 18 weeks now. Shouldn't he start looking like a rooster? He has been molting but just a soft one. He is more than 2 feet from beak to tail. Here are some pix:

As you can see, he needs more room to roost in the coop.

Will he get even bigger? How much clearance on either side of the roost board - 6"? His feet are so huge, I'm increasing to 6" roost boards.
