CHICAGO (AP) -- It wasn't just a random act of kindness for a group of chickens to help a Chicago-area elementary school children in need of some good old-fashioned Corn on the Cob.

The Corn on the Cob festival is an annual event held by the city's food bank that brings together farmers from around the country to share the bounty of corn grown by city residents.

The program brings together farmers from across the city, and in recent years, it has given the birds a chance to teach them how to harvest and process the corn.

On Saturday, the group of four chickens walked from the west side of Chicago to St. Luke's Catholic Church in a southwest suburb.

Each of them was carrying a bucket of fresh corn. It was about 10 a.m

Don't take my chickens! I just don't think that they are the sort of animal for that job. If the job pays, then I'm all for it, but for this one, I think I'll take the old hogs."

"The thing is, I'm not a hog farmer," the old farmer explained. "We only raise sheep and goats. The animals we keep are all the best in the world. They are always well looked after and never in need of attention. That's why the job isn't attractive to me, and why we wouldn't give it to you."

"Well, it seems like a job that might suit me, anyway. You can put me in charge of the place."

"But you have no sheep or goats to care for?"

"I just keep the old ones on the farm. I have other sheep and goats, but I don't want any of those to be used in the work."

So much misinformation. :p
