Oh and I forgot to add that I was candleing a duck egg and I usually have the egg real close to my face and I happen to have my mouth open at the time it exploded.

Oh MY GOSH!! I know that smell!! I have had bird eggs go bad. IT IS THE WORST GREY POISON THAT THERE IS!! You poor person!! Oh it made my stomach turn just reading your description. I can usually smell it through the egg and do a sniff test first. YIKES!
