The mental picture of your chickens high tailing it across the railroad tracks to grandma's house is priceless!!!!!

And pooper scooping after cows? WTH? A wheelbarrow or two? Amazing what people think of.

Have fun getting her back though. I have to chuckle at the peacock thought. I think they rate really high on the most annoying sound EVER!!!!!

Pooper scoopers for cows!

Here's a better picture for you. My in-laws wanted really FRESH manure for their garden. So they went out to the country and asked a farmer if they could have some of the droppings from his cows. "Sure, take all you want" he told them. So for three hours my in-laws followed his cows around the pasture, HOLDING A PLASTIC TOTE UNDER THEIR REAR ENDS!

Talk about fresh. Those poor cows must have been soo embarrassed.

If I owned the cows I would have told her I didn't have time to pooper scoop them but I would have given her a shovel and a 5 gallon bucket and told her if the smell really bothered her, here were the tools and the location of my compost pile.

Did she not see the cows before she bought or built the house? Did she think the owner would just change his habits for her?

Farming is hard work without going around picking up the patties before the stink wears off. If you have only one pasture you might have to get around to it, but it certainly won't be while they are still warm. If you have rotating pastures you won't do it at all because by the time you rotate back to that pasture the patties are part of the topsoil.

On the chickens, if they were in her yard she had a right to complain about that. Otherwise she needs to keep her yap shut about them. After all the chickens were there first! I'm with everyone else. I don't understand people who have this 1950's sitcom view of the country, all manicured 5 acre lawns and country clubs. A lot of America is still rural folks. The county I live in had 50K people total population in it during the last census. I hasn't doubled that now. The mean income of a 2 income family 2 years ago was 37K. That's 2 people working full time. Folks in the country here are working hard on their land for extra money. Growing tobacco, soybeans, corn, raising chickens, goats, horses and cattle. Right now we're at 10% unemployment.

So anyone pulling that pooper scooper crap would probably end up with a front lawn full of compost here, and the sheriff would laugh in their face when called.

I have a neighbor who has chickens herself but she hates roosters. I happened to tell her last weekend that I will be getting a rooster at some point so that I can sell hatching eggs to offset feed costs. She told me that if it wakes her up she will shoot it! Mind you my chickens have a decent coop and a large run, they are not free range. Which means she would be shooting my roo on my property. My comment back to her was "Well I don't pull out my gun and shoot your kids when they wake me up screaming while waiting for the bus", after that she had nothing to say. By the way we live in the country, no laws on chickens.

What is she thinkin? Even if there is any type of law, it would only be a county noise ordinance and a chicken has a hard time getting decibles that high from the neighbors yard. My neighbor tried that too, but from her yard, my Roo didnt' even register on the decible meter. HA! His biggest issue is that he crows at dogs... especially if they get close!

Yeah, I don't blame her as far as not wanting the chickens in her yard too, totally understandable. My girls weren't supposed to be over there. However, she could have come to me first and told me. I would have taken care of it right away. She just had to make it as dramatic as possible by calling the animal control. It's just her I guess!
