BAD HEAT LAMP BULBS?

Hi, I use several heat lamps in my coops during the winter to keep the waters open. My only problem is if a hen or guinea hits the light on the way down from the roost. Mine are the 250 infra red bulbs that I either pick up at tractor supply or our local Farmers Union feed store. What I do wish someone would invent would be a way for the bulb to be more stable when jostled around. Mine usually break at the base and can be a pain to remove from the socket when this happens.

Some brands can be worse than others for breaking at the base. You could try a different brand to see if they escape having that weakness.
I never usually buy hard glass bulbs...but I do now for the older chicks.

There are also infra red livestock heaters that are 2-3 feet in length. Our local co-op sells them. They are better protected from rough handling and hits. Our farm uses them for calves.
