I noticed the other day one of my chickens back father's looked wet or sticky, but didn't think much of it. Well yesterday I noticed a chicken pecking at it. This is what it looks like today, what are your thoughts. She is only 4 1/2 months old.

It doesn't look like there's an open wound but if you haven't already checked, catch her and look underneath the feathers in that entire area. If you're certain that there isn't an open wound I would treat the area with Hot Pick, which will give the pickers an unpleasant surprise the next time they try it and the behavior should stop. I might keep her isolated until she is treated to be on the safe side.

Feather picking can happen when birds are stressed and/or overcrowded, so make sure those things aren't issues.

Thank you for those suggestions. I did catch her and no open wounds. I do know the last couple days they didn't get their normal free time when I let them roam around the yard. It could be they were board. Thank you again
