BAMA/mottled . What color will he Be? UPDATE on color

Quote:
After looking at the pics, now I am stumped and not sure of the genetics. Its a tricky thing and I have really no answer to this point about the mottled colors or what they should be. It would be interesting to see how this breeding progresses....we still have alot to learn about the mottled gene.

I will take some pics when i return home. It might be middle of next week since i have company coming in. I have some chicks that are about 8 weeks old that have the mottling on the front now which is the earliest that that has happened. BAMA is definitely turing more black. When I left Wed he still had the white on the breast area and some around the neck and legs. I can't wait to see what he progress is in the molt when I return home to day. I will take some pics of the chicks too. I am going to give this project another year before I scrap it if it isn't doing much. I am hoping to get a different mottling gene from someone else who is working on this project and see if that interjects the right stuff.

Updated pics of BAMA. He is not completely Black. and I think from the looks of his breast he will retain some mottling.

Wow, he does look like a different rooster. He is still a pretty boy. It sure is amazing how much change. I have a few mottled Javas and their color is a lot like Bama after molt.
