When did it become my place to change the behavior of others ill-mannered kids? I have many times asked people to curb their kids and you either get dumb looks or they get angry..... go figure.

Agreed. I raised mine. Not my job to raise someone else's.

So I guess it is easier to get on a website and complain or to triumph some faceless law that puts any action upon someone else.
You cant have both the good ole days and everyone just standing blindly by or telling someone else to deal with it......because if you remember those good ole days no one would put up with that behavior. Anyone or everyone would stand up and say something about it, at least where I grew up they would.
I just dislike all of this attitude towards children, such hatred. Like the cigarettes and children reference. Thanks for calling my child a cancer upon society.
I am sure the persons complaining are also the same ones who would pick up a stray cat or dog but never bother to pick up a finger to help a real person in need. Or they are the same persons who think their pets have personalities and are their "children"........but Im not gonna go there. Im just ranting.

No, its NOT my responsibility to teach YOUR child manners and have a nasty scene in public.

Well i think that its the parents fault they dont teach them how to behave and be respectful same as with a dog that killed 1 chicken or more. Its not ITs Fault IT is THE OWERS FAULT for letting the dog go to your yard and for not chaining it to a pole or not fencing her/hes yard so the dog does not go any were . Its not the dogs fault same as its NOT THE KIDS FULT were if it was a teen that did that then you could say its her/his fault.

It's really sad that establishments have to go to those lengths to get peace for their customers...I feel that parents SHOULD be able to control their kids but some can't/won't (whatever the case) but I have to agree...I would love to have a peaceful dinner IF that's what I went there for. I have a young child but mine are always quiet and know that they must have respect for others around them.
Just so sad that it has to come to that though

I is not hatered, and I certainly did not call YOUR child anything, that is unless they are the really unruly ones that totally disturbed my meal!

No we will neveer have the Good Ole days back, but we can still have respect and well mannered children!

Personally, I think it would be better for the restaurant to reserve the right to ask groups with unruly children to leave, rather than ban children outright. My children are FAR from perfect but by the time they were 3-4 I could reasonably expect them to behave well at a nice restaurant, and not everyone is able to find a sitter when they want a nice sit down meal. I hate McD's, Chuckie Cheese, those types of places....too much noise, too much activity. My personal opinion is that it is those types of restaurants that cause children (and parents) to think that running around screaming is appropriate restaurant behaviour. I know that some small children can differentiate between McD's and a restaurant with tablecloths, but many can't.

Then again, I can't sit through a meal with my SIL's kids at HOME without losing my mind...so there ya go.
