Sir, acting like an adult is telling a young person that you would appreciate it if they would shut the he-- up??

I think the problem here is your statements referring to "ill-mannered" children. Not all children are raised to be ill- mannered and although many are not disclipined to have respect, I grant you, many are well behaved and have been taught right from wrong by their parents, sorry this has not been your experience. And comparing cigarettes to children is really ridiculous.

Never have I said ALL children are ill mannered, and as for the comparison, what is good for the goose is good for the gander....and I am saying that there should be limits on both for everyone's sake!

I loved your comparison. Even though I don’t smoke I would probably prefer the cigarettes.

Yep!! Thats EXACTLY what is wrong toady... Manners ARE a lost art.

If you dont like it, change it.

When did it become my place to change the behavior of others ill-mannered kids? I have many times asked people to curb their kids and you either get dumb looks or they get angry..... go figure.

I can see this rule becoming more popular in more UPSCALE restaurants allowing no children under a certain age limit, but it would probably be going too far if they did it at more family friendly restaurants (someone mentioned IHOP earlier..). If they limit too many restaurants (family friendly) then there would be not as much family dining in public, which would be kind of disappointing to families who deserve a treat every once in a while. But I definitely agree with enforcing this rule at more upscale restaurants..

But if parents are going to take their kids out to eat, they need to be able to control them, and understand that they can't bring them to all these fancy restaurants and be ruining other people's dinners.

I guess reasonable bedtimes for children are a thing of the past too

Actually if you go to the store early in the morning it's pretty much kid free. Because... they have been up all night.

There is a good side to that.

Groan, but that means I have to get up earlier than normal. Isn't 4 am early enough????

I would not purpose resticting kids at all restraunts, but I do think having some that do not allow them would be extremely nice.

I like Grittys idea of kid free Wally World hours! But then again, I don't got there!
