That's what my Mom would do, too. We would get "the LOOK" and then she'd say, "Do you want me to take off my shoe?"

How that your kids have to smell smoke from the next table? Maybe you haven't been out lately?

Beginning Feb. 1, 2008, smoking is illegal inside bars, restaurants and private clubs, which includes American Legion halls, throughout Maryland. The state banned smoking in most other workplaces in the 1990s.

Please, don't think that the "majority" of people feel this way. It's just that the squeaky wheel gets the grease - or in this case, the attention.

Most places now are non-smoking now a days, and if they are not you can chose not to patronise the place. I wish I had that option with children.

Not all kids are monsters, but as you know, the few that are ruin it for the rest! As a patron, I would just like the choice of not having to dine with kids when I chose. I have Gkids I love to take out, but I would kindly respect an owners decision not to allow them.

I agree that there are certain types of restaurants to which you shouldn't bring young children. I do think it's unfortunate however, that people automatically assume that kids are misbehaving monsters who shouldn't be allowed in restaurants other than chuck-e-cheese or mcdonalds. How do you expect kids to learn how to behave properly in a restaurant if they are never taken to one? There are plenty of misbehaving adults as well; I'd pit my kids' manners against many adults any day of the week.

I read it as smelling the person - as in smokers who are heavy smokers and have the smell oozing out of themselves and their clothing, whether they are smoking at the time or not.

Personally, I think people who smell like old butt should be banned from restaurants.
