the bill is to stop "dangerous" dogs that have a history of biting.....it is not singling out Pits.

Anyone that doesn't want dogs w/history of violence put down, scares me. to compare germany to USA is insulting. When my neighbors pit killed my dog, I forced him to either put the dog down or get him out of my sight (neighborhood). I'd do in heartbeat again. Luckily, he readily agreed to.

Yes, the structure of the poem may have been based on another, but that doesn't make it a comparison.

As a person who'd family lived through the holocaust I don't find it insulting in the least. It was actually my great grandmother (the internet savy little blue haired lady that she is) that showed me the quote (and yes it was the dog one). It's not meant to be insulting and I'm very sorry if it was taken that way.

Not all pits are mean nor are they violent. Blanket bans are never the answer. Empowering owners to become educated and better representatives for the breed (and for all breeds) is what needs to happen. Stiffer laws on animal abuse and neglect need to be put into play. Stiffer chain rules and regulations need to be put into play. Not banning a whole breed based on the actions of a few.

That has got to be the dumbest comment I've ever heard! So lions and tigers and bears (oh my) should be killed off because they have the power to kill people? What is up with people these days who think they have the right to be God and deside what animals get to live and what has to die. There are terrible people out there too, they should be all killed of I guess.

so true. The biggest killer is mankind itself anyways.Anything the size of a rat and up has the potential to kill a human. we cant just go around and kill every cow and horse.....

jeez people! obviously we cant kill every animal! its not even about that! and its not even about the stupid uneducated owners! it only takes one time for someone to be SEVERLY injured! there doesnt have to be signs that were ignored or abuse or neglect....its the BREED! they are too strong and powerful to be a pet and thats my personal opinion. dogs are suppossed to be a part of the family and some are humanlike....but this breed I dont believe can be trusted for a second! so everybody really needs to put their hair down and their claws back in and just hope to god if you own a pit that nothing bad ever happens!

oh and on another note...you need a special permit/license to own a lion, tiger or bear (oh my) and why is that?! and everyone within so many miles of you needs to know about it.

First of all, "pit bull" is not a breed. It's a vague term that covers a lot of breeds and mixes. If "pit bulls" are outlawed, it's left to the discretion of bureaucrats to decide if your dog is one or not.

Second, if pit bulls are "too strong and powerful", so are our Danes. So is my horse. I wouldn't give them up because people like you think they're "too strong".

There's the primary reason for aggressive dogs in a nutshell. Dogs are not "humanlike", and they're not "part of the family". You simply cannot have healthy, balanced dogs if you anthropomorphize them.
