Banny chicken with MG ms.

The only way I could get tylan50 was injection

If this is what you have - it can be given orally.

You will need a syringe and at least 18-20 gauge needles to get it out of the vial, unless you pry off the top (stopper) of the vial with pliers. I would get a few in case I wanted to use a clean one each time, or give it by injection in the future. Use only a 20 gauge needle for injections though, but the larger 18 gauge is easier to withdraw from the vial. Remove any needle before giving it orally of course..

I know there is a wide range of doses, and I thought I would let you know how I came up with the 0.25 ml twice a day. The instructions for the Tylan soluble powder say that chickens get 50 mg per pound per day and that turkeys get 60 mg per pound per day.

0.5 pounds x 50 mg per day / 50 mg/ml = 0.5 ml per day, so 0.5 ml divided by the number of times per day.

I joined Facebook the other day , and there is a vet that posts there. She said something like most people way under dose Tylan and that it really should be given 3-4 times a day.

Anyway, thought you all should know that. :D I hope you know that I mean no disrespect to either of you and your recommendations. :bow

I agree with you Kathy

injectable Tylan50 has such a wide range, that why what all 3 of us recommended would work.
Plumb's Vet Drug Manual The range is 10-40 mg/kg twice daily. So.....I use the "middle range" of 20mg/kg.
So, .50lb/2.2(kg) X 20mg/50= .090909090.... so round up to .10 for convenience. This is how I get mine - so it would be .10ml 2X a day:)

Looks like a cyst or a tumor. Can you get a close up of it?

If there is pus in there it should be removed and then the area should be flushed. How do you feel about making a small incision?
