Bantam chickens.. a friendly discussion about all pure and mixed breeds.

Anyone have painted Silkie chickens? What's the difference between splash and painted really?..
Paint is heterozygous dominant white and black. Basically it's white (not the usual white that most silkies have) with black spots. When crossed you'll get more white chickens with leakage or black chickens with leakage.
Splash is a dilution of black. It is very light gray with blue and black spots. When crossed it acts like black.

Okay so the paints are let's say a white Hen with black splotches randomly..

You're probably right. Because my 2, and your Bonnie aren't looking like regular brown Partridges.

Nope...We definitely have Wheaten Partridge Silkie...:wee
That's my last about it....:p
I think your silkies don't look like regular partridge because they're silkies. They aren't bred for color as much as other breeds since it's kinda hard to even tell what color they are. There's no wheaten variety in silkies as far as I know.

I just checked and wheaten Silkies showed up like ours.

3 of my birds in this flock are just what some might call "cruddy auction chickens" anyway. So I don’t know much about some of them. But I do know that I love them the same. :wee

I also know that I won’t be back to another auction. :clap

Truth be told, I'd call all of yours Partridge because they seem WAY too dark for Wheaten. Key difference seems to be that Partridge Silkies are dark overall, while Wheatens are light brown colored with dark 'points', ex. wing feathers, hackles, and tail. Males look essentially the same in both varieties, Silkie or not, so this is obviously for females only. :p

...Sorry for butting in. I'll go back to lurking and quietly admiring all these adorable bantams.
